Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 7-Piece Cookware Set
Her one wish is that the lid vented a little more. The bottom of the pan has discolored a bit (tinted brown) but that could be due to overheating. They still look good, however, and I think that a little discoloration is to be expected.
Get these pans for someone you care about (even if that person is yourself).
On a side note, she got the 'Diamonds' she wanted later that year as well. Now she wants them every year!
Great Set - J Martin Jellinek - Memphis, TN United States
Although I am not much of a cook, I am the chief bottle washer in the family. I bought this set for my partner last year for Christmas. We use it every day and I have washed it every day. In almost a year, nothing has stuck to the surface, so cleaning is a snap. All the pieces still look like new. As one who has spent too many hours trying to get caked on goo out of pans, this set is amazing. And it makes some darned good meals too. I highly recommend it.
Best Ever - Snicker - Newark, CA
I purchased this set of Swiss Diamond as a gift and have done so before.
Our own Swiss Diamond pots and pans are the only ones we use. We recommend them to every one when the conversation is about cooking. Gave all the other so-called "non-stick" all-clad pans away.

Chef's Secret 14 Piece Cookware Set
Excelsteel 8 Quart 18/10 Stainless Steel 4 Piece Muti-Cookware Set With Encapsulated Base
Both have an insert with holes for pasta and another insert that sits above it for steaming. You can use either or both with the stock pot. Thin spaghetti may escape through the holes of the pasta inserts.
Both have the same defect that you need to put in two quarts of water to reach the bottom of the pasta cooker.
The Excelsteel is superior in that there is a vent in the glass top. One reviewer of the Calphalon said her top exploded, although I have had no such problem in many years of use.
However, the Excelsteel steamer is too shallow. It is only 2 1/2 inches deep. The Calphalon steamer is four inches deep. Sometimes I want to steam a lot of vegetables.
Neither this product nor the Calphalon are good for an induction stove.
I find the concept of this product and the Calphalon very useful. I have one recipe which requires cooking pasta and then cauliflower in the same water. It is very easy to lift out the pasta in the pasta cooker, empty it, and then put in cauliflower in the same water.
If you cook only four servings or less of pasta, you will find the Fasta Pasta cooker used in the microwave more convenient than boiling a lot of water. The Fasta Pasta is also a lot cheaper.
Fasta Pasta The Microwave Cooker
But I love the steamer of the Calphalon.
Either this product or the Calphalon are much better than pouring into a colander when making too much pasta for the Fasta Pasta.

T-Fal/Wearever W003SA82 Get A Grip Cookware Set
misleading - J. Phillips - Kentucky
It is NOT T-fal. GetaGrip is a Wearever/Mirro product. Do a web search for GetaGrip 10 piece set and you will see. Some sellers, on here and other websites are advertising these as a T-fal product, but show no box....just product, and NOWHERE on the box mine came in does it say T-fal. If you want REAL T-fal, look elsewhere.

Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton Stainless-Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set
Second, it's a genuine value.
I've used the set for about a month and it is all it is cracked up to be.
It heats quickly and evenly, holds heat well. Fits in small spaces. Handles well on the range. Great elevation on the handles. Intelligent design.
It allows me to cook better and quicker. For example... did a simple mustard chicken tonite. (White wine, herbs, dijon, garlic, spread blah, blah.) Went into the pan on the burner, then into the oven for 30 minutes. Came out EVEN. Did a quick deglaze and reduction in the same pan, sauted some califlour in it and it was perfect. All in about 40 minutes from scratch.
With my previous stuff, that would be a three cookware meal... plus the cleanup.
IMHO, it's the same quality as All Clad, but better designed with a sexier look and a tad cheaper.
I am become Donkey, Destroyer of filets - sumguy - Ashland, MA USA
Ever since I wore out my last set of Kitchenaid pots and pans, I've been looking for something tough to complement my kitchen. With Gordon Ramsey's line of cookware, I feel like Gordon is over my shoulder telling me it's RAW! Sometimes I throw a slice of Wellington at the wall for effect. I swear, every time I flip a burnt piece of salmon I can feel his disdain and disappointment in the handle.
There's no more questioning whether or not my mother's risotto recipe is absolutely crap, when it comes out of these pots I can serve dinner knowing full well that I am culinary Pol Pot, and I should have my chef's knives broken in two.
Dissapointed - Beata Siwinski - Vancouver, British Columbia Canada
My boyfriend bought a full set of the cookware about a year ago. He was very excited about it even though it was very expensive. He justified the cost by thinking that this set will last for a long time. After using it for about a year, two of the bigger pots developed big cracks like I never seen before! It is though as the whole frame at the top of the pot cracked and I am pretty sure that this crack will keep on progressing down.
Next, the top black layer (the part on which you put the food) is peeling!! This is totally unacceptable for a frypan in this price range. We are still using it as our cookware is totally made up from the GR cookware but give it another couple of months and the whole top layer of the pan will peel off.
Finally, my biggest issue with the cookware - the lids heat up to the temperature of the rest of the pot and you will burn yourself repeatedly by accidentally touching them. They are also very heavy so i you dont have strong hands and are trying to multitask and flip the lid with one hand be warned, it will tip sideways and burn the inside side of your wrist. Extremely poor design of the lids . . .
It does however do great job cooking the food so for my boyfriend, who is the chef in our kitchen, this set works. Unfortunately I cannot agree with most of other comments here.

Circulon Elite 10-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set
ok... - N. Twersky - New Jersey
My Mother bought this set of pots for me and there were a couple of dissapointments. First off, I was upset that the set didn't come with a medium size pot- a 3.5 or 4 qt. it only came with the 1 and the 2 qt which are very simular in size and I felt that the size was missing. Second, I am very particular about the cleanliness of the pots and I found the little lip/bubble around the lid was annoying to clean. After cooking a soup on the stove for about 6 hours, the steam really cakes up inside of there, and no matter how many times I passed my sponge through the groove, it kept coming out dirty. Also, I originally bought the circulon 2's but returned them for the elite's because I wanted the clear cover and now I regret it. The clear covers are nice because you could see inside, but food particles (especially after cooking a long time) gets stuck between the glass and the metal and I always have to take out a toothpick and wipe that out. Macy's was very apologetic and let me return this set, which I replaced with the circulon infinates. I haven't used them yet, but am hoping that these two problems will be solved with my new set (it came with a free bonus of a 4 qt. pot). They seem a bit heavy, because of the additional steel plate on the bottom, but it helps with the cooking, and I think all the pots (including the elites) are heavy anyway!! Also, I'm not so thrilled that the handles don't have any silicone covering, which makes it hot when cooking- but if you cook properly, and keep it on a medium flame, the side handles are ok to handle (but the lid handle you need some sort of protection). They did this because it is oven safe, unlike the others. But the biggest plus about the infinate is it is dishwasher safe- which has fantastic reviews, so hopefully that will hold up!! Hope this helps!!!
Circulon Elite 10-Piece Nonstick Hard-Anodized Cookware Set - Taya -
I purchase this item to replace my other set of cookware which I had for 10 years. I like Circulon because I purchase a round griddle pan from a department store and I like the way it cooks and easy to clean. Buying this cookware set is a great vestment for me and my family. We like the way it cleans easily, the appearance of the set which has glass lids and you can see what the food is doing.
I love these pots! - C. Gallagher - Edwardsville, IL
I LOVE these pots. They cook so evenly and clean up oh so nice! I found them originally at Kohl's for 0, but purchased them at Amazon and saved 0. Free shipping and no tax--can't beat that!

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 5 Piece Starter Set
Many glowing reviews on this set. The Cuisinart Chef's Classic line is very affordable, and well regarded for the price (there was a review in CooksIllustrated). Handles are very comfortable. And if the pots/pans become discolored by heat, just use BKF (Bar Keeper's Friend) to make them look new again.
To round out the set, get a 2-quart saucepan and a 12" skillet... TJ Max/Marshalls has great prices on open stock.
pretty n efficient - Allison Thornton - Jersey City, NJ United States
this seemed like such a deal, i couldn't pass it up. i'm sooo glad i didn't. they are shiny, and purrty, and i didn't think they would work as well as they looked. Alas, they do!
Conducts heat very well, and has just enough weight to be balanced on my gas stovetop. the handles don't get hot, so i am able to drain pasta, pour off broth, etc without the 'heat grimace' or the pre-blessing on my pot-holder's heat resistance. I'm very happy with these, and i would get them for everyone i know if i could financially do so. ;)
perfect for singles - Coffee Lover - Los Angeles, CA
This little set is perfect for those who live alone or live with another person. I don't need a lot of different kinds of pots and pans. I live alone in a small apartment and my kitchen is very small. The less I have, the better. This starter set is the perfect size. I can cook just about anything with these.

Chantal Copper Fusion 9 P iece Cookware Set, Chili Red
It heat very evenly and is very easy to clean. Most of the time I just wash it by hand and unless I'm too tired and than I just throw it in the dishwasher.
I almost never have any problems with food sticking and if it does I have never had a problems cleaning it.
Since I purchased this set I've also bought the Saute Pan, Chef's Pan and 11" Skillet which are very functional and beautiful.
I have also bought a set for my daughter who also loves it.
Works like a charm! - Student of the Word - United States
I recently got the Chantal copper fusion cookware and love it! Things don't stick, I can use a much lower heat and things still brown up beautifully. I am very pleased with my purchase!
clean up "not so easy" - rosyred -
This cookware set is beautiful to look at. I can't tell that there is any "stick resistance" when cooking or cleaning. They still require a good soak and scrub to clean after cooking about anything. The red finish has started to chip near the base on my skillet that I am using on a regular basis. Haven't noticed any chipping on any of the other pieces. After several weeks, i probably feel like the price is a little high...probably could have found better quality for less money, but they really do look nice on my stove!!!

Anolon Allure 10-Piece Cookware Set
Not Dishwasher Safe - I've been running cycles through the dishwasher, with mild detergent. However, the pans have entirely lost the outside color/coating, and are now a faded grey.
Interior is Not Scratch Resistant - Do not use steel wool to wash the inside, the first time I used them the scratches were probably so minor I couldn't see them. But as time wears on the tiny scratches begin to chip into larger ones, eventually the entire layer falls off.
High quality Teflon is still Teflon. Treat it like delicate glass, hand-wash with soft sponges, and the set will probably last you a lifetime. Otherwise you'll be needing a new set in a year.
Great Pans - Kam -
I have previously owned individual pieces of Analon and a single pan from Analon Allure line. I love that pan. I picked these up for around .00 on a two day sale and I could not be happier. These pans look great, cook great and heat up evenly. Cleaning is a breeze. I also love the handles that do not get hot. Oven cooking is a snap also. By far, one of the best deals I've ever gotten.
Love these! - L. Mountford - Bellingham, WA United States
Like others here, I purchased this set for less than 0 on a gold-box special, and I've been very happy with it. I've been using the pans regularly for about 8 months now, and they show no sign of wear at all. The non-stick coating is hold up very nicely, and is super easy to clean (literally, a quick wipe with a sponge under running water will do it).
I use mostly the skillet and the two smaller saucepans, since I'm usually cooking just for myself, so those three pans get the most use. Looking at them with the other pans that barely get used at all, there's no observable difference: no scratches, no "dings," no difference in the non-stick coating, nothing. I tend to be pretty careful with them, but I wouldn't say I "pamper" them. They are, after all, pans, and they do get used.
I'm watching for more sales so I can add to my set. Very good quality and highly recommended.

Marcus Samuelsson 8-Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set
This cookware just oozes quality. I've been looking for some time for a set, and I've purchased a few individual pieces to try them out. This set puts them to shame. They heat evenly, they have a gorgeous finish, and they're made from heavy material.
The handles are sculpted and long. The 10" skillet has a handle that is almost 10" long. Most of the pieces have helper handles.
The set comes with a DVD that show the care and use of the set with Marcus as the chef.
The only thing I can't figure out is how to get food not to stick. I've had the same problem with other stainless steel cookware. Some people say cook on low heat, some say to make sure everything is blazing hot before putting the food in. I bought some Pam today, and it worked fine on one side of a hamburger but when I flipped it the other side stuck. At least the pans clean easily, just soak with hot water. The manufacturer even recommends a stainless steel powder like Barkeeper's Friend, as the finish is satin anyway.
The best thing about this set is the its made in the U.S.A. by Wear Ever in Wisconsin. Besides putting money back in the country, I probably don't have to worry about a factory in Szchen Szu province picking up whatever heavy metals are laying around and making a pot for me.
Very well made. - P. Madden - Chicago
I will keep this short and sweet. Heats evenly. Very well made. Made in the USA a plus.

Cuisinox Gourmet 1.4 Quart Covered Saucepan
Berndes SignoCast Classic10-Piece Cookware Set
The stuff is MASSIVE, so make sure you have large cabinets to store them and strong arms to lift them. I have dinged up the skillet a bit but the non-stick coating is thick enough so small scratches do not get through, so it still performs well. Compared to the thin, warped, scratched stainless and non-stick junk I had before, these pots and pans are just fantastic. I only gave them 4 stars because I don't have a lot of experience with high quality cookware and there could be something better out there, who knows?
Money well spent - R. Mills - CT United States
We actually purchased this set about 3 years ago. I came across it here on Amazon and though I would take a second a write a review. This cookware is amazing! Cooks evenly, cleans up instantly, and after almost 3 years of use, it is still like brand new. Very heavy duty, strong non-stick coating, and will not warp like the cheap stuff.
If you are considering a new cookware set, do not hesitate to purchase anything by Berndes, it is worth the money.
Follow Up: It's now 2010 and we are still using this cookware. The fry pan is gone but that is due to my teenagers cooking with it and using sharp utensils. Amazing after almost 10 years, this cookware is still holding up.
Homeowner - R. Scott - Tallahassee, Fl
We purchased 2 full sets for each of our homes. They guarantee that the paint will not chip off. Since you cannot put them in a dishwasher, we hand washed them using a soft sponge. One side being cloth and the other side being a plastic material. Over a period of about 2 years, the paint started chipping off the top rims. We sent 3 of them back without lids along with a check to cover shipping. They sent us 3 new pots with lids in 4 weeks. A good thing about the pots is that once they are heated up, you can cut the burner down. The pots have not scratched our glass top ranges. Glass lids are excellent. Food does not stick inside.
not for long term use - T. Blair - Austin, TX
We received this set 9 years ago as a wedding present. I selected them for our registry at Williams Sonoma. We have always been very careful with them but after about three years they began to chip and the non stick lost it's sheen. I wouldn't recommend these pots for everyday use at all. stick to T-Fal as I've found them to last longer. And of course All Clad has been a winner for me.

Nordic Ware 3 Piece Bakers Set Cookware Sets
Mauviel Cuprinox Extra-Thick 5- Piece Copper Cookware Set
Falk and Mauviel are the top two copper cookware competitors available in the US, and both manufacture 2.5mm thick copper cookware (please note Mauviel does manufacture some lines of cookware with much less copper; see my notes below). Falk only sells directly to the public via their US distributor's website (you can search the web, and find their direct sales online at their website).
I purchased a 1.3qt Mauviel saucepan with a lid and a Falk Sauciere 1.4qt with a lid. This was not a scientific test, nor was it a comparison of equals - the sauciere is 7" (almost 7.5") in diameter, and the Mauviel saucepan is deeper and narrower, with a 5.5" diameter. I filled each with 3 cups of cold water, and timed their boil on low heat (warning - high heat will discolor the copper!) on a large gas Jenn-Air cooktop (propane gas). With lids on (but checking frequently after the first 10 minutes), the Falk boiled at 14 minutes and the Mauviel at 14 minutes 30 seconds - essentially a tie, since the Mauviel was deeper.
The Mauviel boiled more evenly throughout the pan, while the Falk boiled in only three spots. I did not wait for a roaring boil from either (I needed to boil the water to make iced tea, not just test the pots). I was impressed by the even heating of the Mauviel ... not just the bottom of the pot, but the sides of the pot were heating and producing bubbles evenly, as well. Very impressive, and shows the Mauviel experience in producing chef-level copper cookware.
EASE OF USE: Both items are HEAVY. You will build upper body strength just lifting these saucepans - and I'm speaking of the smaller pots! If you have any physical limitations (e.g., slipped discs in your neck), then consider buying a lighter set of pans, such as the non-stick Calphalon. With these copperware makers, you're paying for the heft which will ensure even, constant distribution of heat. These pots are professional quality items.
COPPER FINISH: This Mauviel saucepan has a mirrored or brightly burnished copper finish, unlike Falk which has a brushed or matte finish. I GREATLY PREFER FALK'S MATTE OR BRUSHED COPPER FINISH - EASY TO CLEAN, and NO FINGERPRINTS OR MARKS! Mauviel's bright finish, so subject to fingerprints and smudges - although brand new it is a typical bright beautiful copper - makes me wince to even look at, much less use. I gave the pot only four stars because the mirrored copper finish is so difficult to keep looking nice, unlike the Falk. Falk is a copperware you won't mind using on a daily basis.
EXPENSE: All copper cookware, if the copper is 2.5mm in depth - which is what you should buy due to the greater conductivity - is expensive. Falk is no different. My comparison shopping for Mauviel at Amazon showed similar prices, but look closely - I'm sure it's intentional that the pan/pots offered by Mauviel and Falk are NOT the same size, varying by .1 to .3 quarts in most cases, to avoid direct price comparisons. Word of warning: If you find inexpensive "copper" pots, you can rest assured that the copper is applied in such a thin sheet over stainless steel that the copper is for aesthetic (looks!) reasons only, and will provide little or no conductivity improvement.
BIG PLUS - FALK HAS ONLY ONE COPPER COOKWARE LINE, unlike Mauviel, which has started at least one (and maybe two) less expensive (which equals less copper) cookware lines. If you want Falk you have to buy from Falk directly, so you know you're getting the "real deal," not a knock-off AND not a less expensive line of copperware. If you buy Mauviel from Amazon, BEWARE and be careful to pick the correct pieces if you want the top of the line 2.5mm Cuprinox. I found many Amazon listings to be confusing as to Mauviel line/copper thickness.
Good luck and Happy Cooking!
Update as of 6-23-09: The Mauviel pot tested in this review has developed serious water spots on its surface. The Falk still looks great even though we use it more often than the Mauviel. We only handwash our copperpots, we never use a dishwasher on them. The spots mostly disappear when the Mauviel pot is polished, but who wants to handwash AND constantly polish? I continue to prefer Falk for aesthetic and practical reasons.
There really is a difference - A reader - San Francisco, CA USA
Copper cookware is a luxury, not a necessity. Having said that, there is definitely a difference in how it performs compared to all other cookware. I'm not going to pull out a copper pot to boil water or heat soup, but for sauteeing, sauce-making, or slow roasting I've found it unbeatable. All of my copper is Mauviel 2.5 mm (purchased in France when the dollar was at its strongest) and it performs flawlessly. As for cleaning, a little Barkeeper's Friend on a very wet sponge maintains the interior and exterior in like-new condition, although some people like the look of well-used copper (like an old penny). In short, if you plan to splurge, you really do get extra performance for your money with 2.5 mm copper.
