Many glowing reviews on this set. The Cuisinart Chef's Classic line is very affordable, and well regarded for the price (there was a review in CooksIllustrated). Handles are very comfortable. And if the pots/pans become discolored by heat, just use BKF (Bar Keeper's Friend) to make them look new again.
To round out the set, get a 2-quart saucepan and a 12" skillet... TJ Max/Marshalls has great prices on open stock.

this seemed like such a deal, i couldn't pass it up. i'm sooo glad i didn't. they are shiny, and purrty, and i didn't think they would work as well as they looked. Alas, they do!
Conducts heat very well, and has just enough weight to be balanced on my gas stovetop. the handles don't get hot, so i am able to drain pasta, pour off broth, etc without the 'heat grimace' or the pre-blessing on my pot-holder's heat resistance. I'm very happy with these, and i would get them for everyone i know if i could financially do so. ;)
perfect for singles - Coffee Lover - Los Angeles, CA
This little set is perfect for those who live alone or live with another person. I don't need a lot of different kinds of pots and pans. I live alone in a small apartment and my kitchen is very small. The less I have, the better. This starter set is the perfect size. I can cook just about anything with these.
