blinQ 10 Piece Cookware Set Berry Red
Sort of disappointing... - Kristina Webster - Everywhere, USA
I purchased this set of pans for several reasons. First, they were TriPly, which is exactly what I wanted this time. It's getting great reviews and I was purchasing for longevity, as I am tired of replacing everything I use in the kitchen. Second, they are red, and I have a red, black, white theme in the kitchen. And finally because they were on sale for less than 0.
When the pans arrived, I was immediately disappointed. They are NOT red, they are a deep pink color. The pictures are very misleading, but that's common with the internet. After picking one of the pans up, out of the box, they are very heavy, and the handle is very comfortable. I decided the color was close enough to what I have in the kitchen and it wasn't worth sniffling over the shade. Overall, they look and feel like great pans.
The first pot I used was the 8 qt. stockpot. I used a lower than high heat tempreture, per box instructions. I did not add salt to the water AT ALL! I waited for a fast boil (took some time considering the amount of water and the lower heat) and added pasta. Upon draining the pasta, I noticed the pot was already pitted. I was extremely disappointed. I wrote blinQ the next day, asking if I should expect this to happen with all the pots, or should I just get the one replaced. I still have not gotten a response, a month and a half later. Since writing to them, every pan that I have boiled water in has pitted. It's ridiculous. I use a standard electric oven and have no dishwasher in the house for this to have caused an issue. (As a sidenote, the seller, Firefly, did respond to my e-mail very promptly with a customer service number for blinQ, but no one is answering at that. Firefly themselves seems to be a VERY good seller and they are trying to help.)
Given the chance to do it all over again, I would have paid more money for a different set of pans. I gave 3 stars because they do seem to heat very evenly, have a good weight to them and have a nice, comfortable handle. The lids are also nice, as they slightly ventilate whatever you are cooking. The non-stick pan cooks just as evenly as the all stainless does. The color seems to be something that will hold up for a very long time, with proper care.
